1 Syawal
Let's see, the rewang started ard 10 pm. The guys kupas bawang and did all the cuttings (all 8 of them.Anak2 teruna rajin ni semua). Chef for rendang ayam - Tanty and Fatma, rendang daging - Komal, lodeh - Najib, sambal sotong - me and it would not be complete if there isnt Fatma's kuah kacang. The nasi himpits and lemangs diuruskan oleh juniors. We really divided all the tasks, from the buyings till the cookings. Hmm we had desserts too. Iqbal's and Shafeez's pudding/agar2 and a really tasty Tiramisu made by Ezaid.
The group photo session was funny. The guys mmg agak gila gambar sket, hee hee. But i guess maybe because they are the majority, tak de la segan sgt nk ambik gmbr depan 3 org akak2 ni kan. They had this one songkok and been taking turns to wear it in the picture.I really really hope this would be the last Aidilfitri here. Looking fwd to spend it at home. Dad's takbir after maghrib prayers, sisters doing the last minute cleaning , Mom being busy in the kitchen will all the Aunties- cooking the dishes for raya, hanging ketupats..i miss all that. Well, for all who read my blog, SELAMAT HARI RAYA!!!

Microelectronics Lab? Today?
You see, I supposed to be in the lab as well. I thought it's going to be next week but during the class on Tuesday, i kind of miss the part when they changed the date. What is wrong with me? It makes me feel like i dont understand German at all. Kind of embarrased when i said i dont know the lab is today. Ergh!
My lab partner is already in the lab when i walked in. I didnt bring my notes or anything. Just a testpad and my pencil case. We started around 130 pm and finished at 3. We were the first to finish. Lucky my lab partner is nice. Next time, i'll be controlling the mouse.
BCD
Stupidly i answered "Ermm..I am not sure". You see, that's my problem. Sometimes i know the things or equations asked but i just dont remember the names. When he explained what BCD is, i felt so stupid because i was thinking about that earlier. I felt like an idiot the entire hour until the class ends.
So, here's something from Wikipedia.
In computing and electronic systems, Binary-coded decimal (BCD) is an encoding for decimal numbers in which each digit is represented by its own binary sequence. Its main virtue is that it allows easier conversion to decimal digits for printing or display. Its drawbacks are the complexity of circuits needed to impliment mathematical functions and the space wasted in the encoding - 6 wasted paterns per digit. Even though the importance of BCD has diminished, it is still encountered.
In BCD, a digit is usually represented by four bits which, in general, represent the values/digits/characters 0-9. Other combinations are sometimes used for sign or other indications.
Basics
To BCD-encode a decimal number using the common encoding, each digit is encoded using the four-bit binary bit pattern for each digit. For example, the number 127 would be:
0001 0010 0111
Since most computers store data in eight-bit bytes, there are two common ways of storing four-bit BCD digits in those bytes:
- each digit is stored in one byte, and the other four bits are then set to all zeros, all ones (as in the EBCDIC code), or to 0011 (as in the ASCII code)
- two digits are stored in each byte.
Unlike pure binary encodings large numbers can easily be displayed by splitting up the nibbles and sending each to a different character with the logic for each display being a simple mapping function. Converting from pure binary to decimal for display is much harder involving integer multiplication or divide operations. The BIOS (Basic Input/Output Systems) in many PCs keeps the date and time in BCD format, probably for historical reasons (it avoided the need for binary to ASCII conversion).

I wont forget this the next time. Even if i dont understand everything written up here. Hah!

Programming? Physics? Pening...
Why is it that I always end up doing the subjects that i dislike (hate is a very strong word).
Like in Form 5, i never like Physics and i love Chemistry. I got C4 for my Physics ( mencacatkan sijil je) and for Chemistry A2, kot. So, i applied for Chemical Engineering in UTM and i got it. On my 2nd day of orientation, i received the A-Level German offer. Something that i could not refuse. One of the reason is because my dad had the you-must-take-this-offer look, and the other and main reason was the scholarship. My parents could save a lot on paying expensive college fees. Plus, i have the opportunity to study abroad. Back to the Physic-thingy, I spend 2 years learning Physics at UiTM plus another year in Germany and had to leave my beloved subject Chemistry behind.
Just my luck. I had a very ..ermm i shud say genius teacher for the first semester. Genius means he is really smart, but he has difficulities of explaining things to his students. I once ended up sleeping through his entire class sbb pening. Budak nakal ni, but at the end of the class i explained to him why i slept. So, that didn't exactly help me to like Physics at all. Untill like the 3rd sem, they changed the teachers. Thank God!! Pn. Nazlinda explained quite clearly, although i was still a bit loss, but it's okay. I don't dislike Physics like before.
In Germany, my luck with Physics didnt get any better. Another genius taught my class. This one, was a nobel award candidate. Great! Another spirit booster. So, i didnt go to most of his classes (I can count with my fingers how many times did i go) .Who told him to ask about Mao Tse Tung when we told him we come from Malaysia. It's MALAYSIA, i know nothing about the history of China. Lucky during my 2nd Semester, the teacher was kind of cute. (There were 2 teachers, an elder man who taught all the theories and of course the one that i'm referring to is the younger one, who conducted the exercise hour). Never failed to attend that class. Tee hee hee.
Back on Programming..I dont like it, but i have to do it. On my first semester, i failed the programming class. In fact, all four girls failed. We had to repeat and take extra courses to improve our programming skills. Boleh la, tak de la nk kata tak pandai sgt programming,i know just the basics. But not that good. The professor, the one that failed us, passed away after we passed the exam. Heart attack. But not because we passed the exam, but maybe it's his time. For this semester, i'll be having headache every Wednesday. I haven't touch the programming book for almost two years. Mmg la pening bila nk ingat balik. Ouh, the Chinese guy, Lee ,he is in the same class. And to him, i dont know anything about programming. Because i asked him one question last time because i didnt understand what the teacher was saying. And his answer was "Pointer ni kalau you belum belajar mmg susah nk faham" . I told him i have learned about pointer before and his reaction was," Eh, bila you belajar?" .Okay, fine. The programming class, the one that i failed ada je taught pointer. It made me think that to him my knowledge about programing is nil.
So, I'm digging up the old books and notes and my aim is to pass this exam and show Lee that i'm not an idiot. Wish me luck on that. and the other 8 subjects i'm having.
